Plans and billing

See how many servers each plan allows, subscribe, upgrade or switch to a lower plan, change the card, read the invoices and cancel the subscription.

What a plan limits

A plan sets how many servers a team may have, and how many questions its team members may ask Hako each month. Tenkai bills the team, not each server; your provider still bills you for the machines.

Plan Servers Hako questions a month Who it is for
Free 1 10 Your personal team, without a payment
Hobby 3 200 Any team
Pro 10 500 Any team
Team Unlimited 2,000 Any team, under fair use

The Pro and Team plans also show the host exposure check of each server. Tenkai checks the servers of every plan, so a team that moves to Pro sees the result at once.

The Team plan also gives the activity: who revealed a sensitive value, and when. Tenkai records the reveals on every plan: a team that moves to the Team plan reads those from before, and a team that leaves it keeps them for when it comes back.

The Pro plan and the Team plan also give SSH login alerts: an email to owners and admins for each SSH login to a server, in early access.

The Pro and Team plans also list the authorized keys of each server, and report a key that Tenkai did not add. Tenkai checks the keys on every plan, so a team that moves to Pro sees them at once.

A team at its plan limit cannot add a server. Another team than your personal team has no plan, and cannot add a server, until it subscribes.

Tenkai may offer a team a plan until a date. The Billing tab shows that date. After it, the team is above its limit if it keeps more servers than its new plan allows. Subscribe before that date to keep the plan.

Above the server limit

A team ends up with more servers than its plan allows when its plan ends or moves to a lower one. Every server counts, also one that waits for enrollment.

Seven days later, the team is restricted: it can no longer deploy, apply a configuration, create or resize a managed service, turn its high availability on, install an app, or copy an environment. What runs keeps running, and you can still roll back. A rollback applies the current configuration of the web application, including a size saved since the restriction started. Owners and billing members get an email when the team goes above its limit, two days before the restriction and when it starts.

To lift it, remove servers or subscribe to a plan that allows them. The restriction lifts at once.

Open the billing

Open the team settings, then the Billing tab. Only owners and billing members see it.

Subscribe to a plan

  1. Under Plans, choose Monthly or Yearly.
  2. Choose Subscribe on a plan.
  3. Pay on the Stripe page that opens. Tenkai never sees your card.

Change the plan

  • Upgrade. The dialog gives the prorated amount due today. The new plan applies once the payment succeeds. If the payment needs an action, the team keeps its current plan until you choose Pay the invoice, before the date the page gives, or Stripe cancels the upgrade.
  • Switch to a lower plan. Choose Switch to and the plan. It starts at the end of the paid period; Cancel the scheduled change keeps the current plan. A team with more servers than the lower plan allows is then above its limit.

You cannot change the plan while an upgrade waits for payment, a change is scheduled or the subscription is set to end. A yearly subscription stays yearly.

Change the card and read the invoices

Payment method opens Link, Stripe's service that holds the card. Sign in with the email address used at the team's first checkout to change the card or billing address.

Invoices lists the latest invoices. If Stripe does not answer, choose Try again.

Cancel the subscription

Under Cancel subscription, choose Cancel at the end of the period. The team keeps its plan until the date shown, and any scheduled plan change is dropped. Until then, Keep the subscription withdraws the cancellation.

After that date, your personal team returns to the Free plan and another team has no plan, which allows no server. A team that keeps more servers is then above its limit.

When the page shows a warning

  • This team has no plan: subscribe to add servers.
  • Server limit exceeded: the team is above its limit. Remove servers or upgrade before the date the warning gives.
  • The subscription waits for its first payment, is unpaid or is paused: the team has no paid plan and cannot subscribe again while this subscription exists. Choose Cancel the subscription now, then subscribe.
